Early bracelet charms came from early man, they would make jewellery from bones, shells and mud to and this continued over the next few thousand years;
- 75,000 years ago in Africa, people would used shells to adorn themselves
- In Germany some 30,000 years ago, men would carve out mammoth tusks, turning them into charms
- Egypt at around the same time, charms were used as symbols of religion and considered lucky
- In Roman times christian’s used to carry a fish shaped charm to prove their faith and Jewish scholars would wear tiny charm lockets around their necks containing passages from their scriptures
- Knights in believed in Medieval times charms protected them in battle
- Dark Age charms represented the origin of a family and their religion
England’s Queen Victoria began another trend, the Queen wore charms as a fashion. The Queens trend then entered the European nobles. (more…)
